From press release
At 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at 5919 Spring Creek Road, The Morrissey Family Businesses will kick off their Community Involvement Month with an ice cream social called Scoopin’ for Support.
Several area non-for-profits have been invited to this event in an effort to show support for the work they do each and every day for the community.
Paul Logli, president and CEO of the United Way of Rock River Valley, will speak at 3:15 p.m. to the importance of volunteerism.
During the month of August, several other events have been planned, including:
• A food drive for the Rock River Food Pantry;
• A baby shower for MELD;
• Volunteering at the Rockford Rescue Mission; and
• Lunch ’n’ Learns in which several dozen non-for-profits have been invited to set up displays in The Morrissey Family Businesses’ atrium and present information about their organizations.
John J. Morrissey, principal of The Morrissey Family Businesses, said: “The intent of this month is to highlight the organizations that are continually improving the lives of so many in our community. Additionally, businesses and non-for-profits must work together and collaborate…to continue to be successful; this is one of the ways we have found to reach out to the non-for-profits.”
