City offers update on street reconstruction

Auburn Street resurfacing
Auburn Street resurfacing (Auburn Street from Huffman Boulevard to Rockton Avenue) will be under construction the week of Aug. 3.
Construction activities may include, but are not limited to, new asphalt pavement with some full-depth concrete patching, new curb and gutter, new sidewalk, new driveway aprons, new pavement markings and ADA curb ramps. The necessary traffic control and signage will be posted. Two lanes will be open to traffic during construction and, therefore, no detour route will be posted.
Ridge Avenue and Whitman Street intersection
Ridge Avenue and Whitman Street intersection reconstruction (Ridge Avenue between Whitman Street and North Avenue, Whitman Street between Haskell Avenue and Hovey Avenue and Grant Avenue from Whitman Street to 500 feet north of Whitman Street) will be under construction the week of Aug. 3.
Construction activities may include, but are not limited to, replacement of surface and base materials, new 8-inch water main, new storm sewer installation, new concrete pavement, manhole adjustments, inlet adjustments, concrete curb and gutter, utility service relocation, new traffic signals, parkway restoration and landscaping, and some sidewalk and driveway apron replacement. Please note this project is expected to be under construction until Aug. 14. The Ridge Whitman intersection is now open to through traffic. The necessary traffic control and signage will be posted.
Rockton Avenue reconstruction
Rockton Avenue reconstruction (Rockton Avenue between City View Drive and Embury Drive) will be under construction the week of Aug. 3.
Construction activities may include, but are not limited to, replacement of surface and base materials, new storm sewer installation, manhole adjustments, concrete curb and gutter, utility service relocation, parkway restoration and landscaping, sidewalk and driveway apron replacement.
Please note this project is expected to be under construction for 10 weeks, barring any weather delays. The necessary traffic control and signage will be posted.
20th Street resurfacing
20th Street (Charles Street to Broadway), in the 10th and 8th wards, will be under construction during the week of Aug. 3.
Construction activities may include, but are not limited to, replacement of surface and base materials, new 8-inch water main and services, new storm sewer installation, new asphlat pavement, manhole adjustments, inlet adjustments, concrete curb and gutter, utility service relocation, parkway restoration and landscaping, and some sidewalk and driveway apron replacement.
Downtown streetscape
Main Street Mall (Elm Street to Mulberry) in the 3rd Ward will be under construction the week of Aug. 3.
Construction activities may include, but are not limited to, removal of the existing mall, including surface and base materials, new 12-inch water main and services, new storm sewer installation, new concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, installation of brick pavers, utility service relocation, parkway restoration and landscaping, and other related work. State Street will be opened to through traffic, water main and temporary pavement have been installed.
