1 green thing: Just a few more tips for ‘coolness’

Whether you were “green” before the color was fashionable or whether you’re just ready to find the “shade” that works best for you, here’s information about doing just “one green thing.”
When you hit the dog days of summer and the air conditioning is definitely on, there are still a few tips to help keep you cooler.
You may sleep cooler with a hot water bottle filled with icy water. Or, try a buckwheat hull pillow with cotton case. It allows air to move around under your head, and could put you to enjoying those sweet dreams sooner.
It seems obvious, but shut down unnecessary electronic devices such as unused desktop computers, televisions and entertainment systems.
Run your laundry in the evening, and hang outside to dry in the morning. If you can’t hang outside, you may be able to hang at least parts of the laundry in your basement or bathroom. Every little bit helps save on dryer use. When using the dryer, run it in the evening as well to take advantage of the cooler part of the day.
If you have a fireplace, remember to check the damper and make certain it is closed so none of your precious cool air is escaping.
There’s no need to cool closets/cabinets. Get in the good habit of keeping the doors closed.
Of course, you have already replaced all your incandescent bulbs and are saving money while cutting down on the extra heat they deliver, right?
