Shocking details surface in the ‘Baby Crystal’ case
By Joe McGehee
Winnebago County Sheriff Richard Meyers and Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced new, disturbing developments in the “Baby Crystal” case at a press conference this afternoon (Aug. 13) in Rockford.
Meyers and Bruscato announced Katie Stockton, 28, of Rockton, allegedly hid the skeletal remains of two additional infants in her car. Stockton’s car was impounded in South Beliot Aug. 15, 2008, after her arrest for driving with a suspended license. The two infants remains had been housed in Stockton’s car for nearly a year.
Stockton was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder Aug. 5, stemming from her alleged role in the “Baby Crystal” case, where she allegedly dumped the remains of an infant female in a garbage bag in her parents’ yard in rural Winnebago County in 2004. Stockton was arrested in Kansas City, Kan., while on vacation.
Stockton appeared Friday, Aug. 7, via video teleconference to hear the charges against her. Bail was set at $1 million.
