Planting to preserve: Gardening with food preservation in mind
From press release
University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener Connie Austin will conduct a program to provide instruction and guidance on how to create and maintain a vegetable garden with the intention of canning and freezing the produce you grow.
The program will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at the U of I Extension Office in Winnebago County, 1925 S. Meridian Road, Rockford.
August is a great time to plant cool season crops. There is still time this summer to grow a beautiful garden and preserve your garden’s produce to enjoy through the winter.
Cost of the program is $10. Register by calling (815) 986-4357 or online at www.extension.uiuc.edu/winnebago.
