I and most everybody do not know the truth. Without the whole truth, people will jump to conclusions that may be entirely false. the news media need to be very unbias and not incite bad reactions. Uncovering the truth needs to be done as quickly as possible. I urge independent investigation with leadership observers/input from both point of views being intimately involved. I only heard of 2 withnesses who were friends with Barmore who had a different story from the police. Supposedly there are other witnesses but have not come forward with their views. First, the two witnesses allowed Barmore into the daycare. Why? They said the cops killed their friend when Barmore was peacefully gaving himself up. I would say these witnesses could be bias towards their friend. What is the witness view towards police in general? Likewise, the police are telling a differnt story. The police will have a bias in supporting their actions. What are the police attitude towards Barmore prior to this incident? Are there are circumstances that affect these police officers actions and resolutions that need to be known?

Oh Rockford, Illinois! Left there in ‘88 and am glad I have no reason to come back. My entire family has moved out of that God-forsaken place. I am saddened about this turn of events. I keep up with what is going on back in gangland through this site (which is great now with the updates) and a few other. I cannot believe what is going on in my hometown.
I came back for a visit in ‘94 and the E. State construction was being done by Mulford Rd. People were telling Rockford is growing by leaps and bounds. I am will be first to say to those who don’t get out of there: DON’T BELIEVE A WORD OF IT. Rockford, Illinois is an old money boys club full of cheats, liars and crooks, who, truthfully, wouldn’t mind seeing your police force kill as many black people as possible.
As a mixed-race man approaching 40, I can tell you that Rockford, Illinois is one of the most racist communities in the country.
My heart goes out to this UNARMED man’s family. My heart also goes out to officers. I pray they one day will be able to see they have blood on their hands from this and maybe someday they can sleep at night and make peace with their maker for killing someone for no reason.

I am sick of hearing about Rockford cops shooting people. This man, Mark Barmore was unarmed! Why didn’t they shoot him in the leg, or shoulder? Multiple shots to the torso????? Whether he was shot 9 times or 2 times, why did it take TWO cops to shoot him, even if he did “go for an officers gun?” It seems people in Rockford are to be AFRAID of the cops now. Barmore, despite his record, is a human being and at 23 had time to turn his life around and face the consequences of whatever he was involved in. But it seems that’s not possible any more because of this city’s “finest” think it is ok to rid Rockford of people they feel don’t deserve to live. Larry Morrissey and Epperson had better do something about this if they don’t want trouble. They think a couple hundred people is bad? Wait until 10,000 people storm city hall and the public safety building. I can guarantee you, that day is coming if this crap doesn’t stop!

What error? The article states clearly, the sign reads “Stop paying a Murderer” – that kind of reading comprehension says all I need to know about the person leaving these comments.

That spelling error says all I need to know about the people who are protesting.

And isn’t it somewhat odd that all these people claim to have firsthand knowledge of the incident (“There was no damned struggle”), yet none of them were actually there?
