Galena offers Music on Main block party Sept. 5
From press release
GALENA, Ill.—Twice a year, members of the Galena business community open and close the town’s summer season with a block party.
With the town’s charming 19th century downtown as a backdrop, tri-staters are once again invited to kick up their heels in an outdoor season finale of music, food and street dancing as the Galena Area Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Fall Music on Main, Saturday, Sept. 5, in Green Street Plaza, Commerce and Green streets.
The party gets under way at 5 p.m., with the alternative rock sounds of Galena’s own Black Light, White Heat, followed at 7:30 by the contemporary rock group Daryl and the DuRocks.
Admission to Music on Main is $5 for adults 21 and older, $3 for teens and young adults, and free for kids 12 and younger.
The chamber, along with volunteers from the Dubuque Regional Humane Society, will serve brats, hot dogs, burgers, chips, cold pop, water and beer. LT Amusements will provide free face painting and a free bounce house for kids, and JoJo the Clown will be on hand to make balloon animals for them.
Chamber Director Ed Schmit said: “Music on Main has become a Galena tradition. It’s a great opportunity to get together with friends, enjoy some tunes and just have fun being outside for an evening. However, seating is limited, so we encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs.”
