Federal courthouse rises

Exterior work on the new federal courthouse in Rockford is expected to be finished in November, at which time the overall project will be about 65 percent completed as interior work begins during the winter months. In total, federal funding for the job exceeds $100 million. The U.S. General Services Administration awarded nearly $97 million in contracts, about $42 million of which will be dealt to local contractors.
