Why doesn’t Campbell protest these wars?
I’m very disappointed with your AWOL columnist, Stanley Campbell. I say
AWOL
because war is his signature issue, is it not?
Does Campbell believe there is ever such a thing as a
just
war? I don’t know, and I don’t care: the question is moot. Sadly, many of my fellow conservatives actually tried to equate Saddam Hussein with Adolph Hitler as a rationale for the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
Likewise, Americans were presented with a seemingly justifiable reason for the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan: to literally root out Osama bin Laden. Another Adolph Hitler, if you will.
Well, seven or eight years later—and counting, and counting—of looking down into the abyss—or the twin abysses—of costs, wastes, carnage, and more poor-dumb-bastard
heroes
produced almost daily, either for driving over roadside bombs or for
defending Americans’ freedoms against tyranny
—and lo and behold, both of those gentlemen have long since become footnotes. These phony wars
were never about them.
Just imagine: a great democratic republic that even so recently replicated all this for a dozen years in Vietnameven now with a new president who, even if nothing else good could be expected from him, at least, supposedly, knew the pointlessness of fighting an abstract noun (terror)—continues to be only ever more mired in forlorn nation-building, and Campbell is mum.

In wars not against us we protect fear ad not freedom above all!
I am still looking for the formal declaration of war we were supposed to have.
We have no declaration of war.
We invaded Iraq without UN or any other nation behind us. Every other nation said to wait for better intel. We now know there WAS no intel!
We have a new president that has yet to prove that he was born on American land, and he thinks it’s a privacy issue!
This new president said Our troops would be home by now. They sent more over!
I have a hunch that Stanley loves his Democrat buddies so much they could do no wrong. I don’t blame him. One cannot always do what every other liberal does, give him a break!
I read the constitution once every few weeks, and write notes about what I saw last that was against it. As I read about the government powers to declare war, it is very clear that we are not following our constitution!
Investigate WWII, and how we really got involved in it. It makes the idea that the 911 massacre and destruction was an inside job very well!
America wanted nothing of WWII before Pearl Harbor. America wanted nothing to do with Saddam Hussein and attacking him just because he said he wanted to hurt the US.
In both cases, a surprise attack on us was done that we should have been able to do something about! Both times there were people in charge with the ability to stop the deaths and destruction that did nothing. Both times we ended the investigation of who was at fault because we were in a war, and we needed national unity!
Binladin has been dead for many years!
The Middle East is still pretty backwards. They still use their hands to clean themselves, and it’s the Left hand, so don’t think you are going to shake hands with the older ones like we do! A radio is just as good as seeing with the eyes and real up-close to some.
Tapes can be made by anyone. We certainly do not have voice recognizers being used on these tapes we seem to get just when the US needs a boost in military funding.
Binladin is where the WMDs are, and yes he wants to kill Americans, and that’s ok!
I used to want to kill Russians and Germans too! I wanted to because I was told they were bad by my government! Now they have changed their mind! I was in Marine Corps Boot camp with a Russian born recruit! That was different!
We need people like Stanley to be sent to future countries we may go into and take over like Iraq. Let them see how it is, and then tell him that everything is fine when he wants to get the heck out of there!
Don’t get me wrong, We have not been in a constitutional war since WWI.
If it were my gold to pay with, we would all be home working jobs Americans will not do for a whole lot of money. Oh, wait. Woodrow Wilson gave our gold to the Federal Reserve, and it is gone making my money and yours just thoughts on paper and cheap coin!
