Oct. 2 deadline for Audubon Society bird seed orders

Thousands of pounds of bird seed and organic shade-grown coffee are purchased by area residents each year during the Northwest Illinois Audubon Society’s annual bird seed and coffee sale. This year, the deadline for placing orders is Friday, Oct. 2.
Noreen Caliva, treasurer of the Audubon Society, advises: “Proceeds from the sale enable our chapter to support many important local conservation efforts. Environmental education and land stewardship programs in four counties benefit.”
Caliva adds, “You’ll be feeding your feathered friends nothing but the best, and besides that, our prices are down this year.”
Fifteen different varieties of bird seed are available, and Society publications will help you pick what’s best for your feeder and your birds. Prices are better than competitive. Home delivery is available for a small fee or free on large orders. Forty percent of the purchase price can be considered a tax-deductible contribution to the local Audubon Society.
Though a brochure detailing this offering has been mailed to previous participants and Society members, details about the seed and coffee sale can also be found by talking with Caliva at (815) 232-9474 or John Walt at (815) 233-2238.
Orders must be received by Friday, Oct. 2. Delivery and pick up is scheduled for Oct. 16-17 in Freeport, and Oct. 17 in locations in Stockton, Rock City, Forreston and Lake Carroll.
