‘Green Roofs, Rain Gardens and Runoff’ Oct. 26 at Katie’s Cup

Natural Land Institute’s (NLI) Corporate Council is sponsoring a lecture, titled “Green Roofs, Rain Gardens and Runoff,” from noon to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26, at Katie’s Cup, 502 Seventh St., Rockford. The lecture is part of the Jon W. Lundin Lecture Series.
Marcus de la Fleur, a landscape architect formerly with Conservation Design Forum in Elmhurst, Ill., will speak about using green roofs, rain gardens, porous pavement and other water-conserving design features to reduce stormwater runoff and protect rivers and streams from flooding.
The lunch and lecture are free, although donations are accepted. For reservations, call (815) 964-8280, ext. 10.
‘One Drop at a Time’
Marcus de la Fleur’s Web site, www.delafleur.com, documents the “One Drop at a Time” pilot project to retain the rain at his home at 168 Elm Ave., in Elmhurst.
His Web site won a national communications award from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
