Womanspace presents a benefit performance of Catherine of Siena: A Woman for Our Times featuring Nancy Murray, OP, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, at Fisher Memorial Chapel at Rockford College. This interactive performance, perfect for people of all ages and faiths, will be followed by “Dessert with Catherine.” Murray portrays multiple characters in this story of the 14th-century saint, depicting her as a feisty, precocious, determined, care-giving mystic who is an incredibly-liberated woman peacemaker. Sponsors include the Rockford Interfaith Council, Fraiche Café and Rockford Woman. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $10 for children 13 and younger.
Earlier that morning, Murray is the special guest at a VIP breakfast fund-raiser for Womanspace from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Rockford. Tickets are $25. Come hear Nancy share what life was like growing up in the Murray home in Wilmette with siblings Ed, Brian Doyle, Peggy, Bill, Laura, Andy, John and Joel. Nancy will also discuss her current life as an Adrian Dominican sister, traveling the world with her one-woman show.

That evening, Joe and Carol Valaitis treat us to Egypt: Ancient and Modern Views with photos and insights from their travels there. Nov. 19 is a Dorothy Bock Art Lecture at noon about contemporary African-American artist Faith Ringgold. That evening, Bookgirl is our Junior Member program for girls 9-13 with activities and discussion of Kashmira Sheth’s book, Blue Jasmine.
