Friends of Rockford Public Library fund-raiser Nov. 14 at Barnes & Noble

The Friends of Rockford Public Library are partnering with Barnes & Noble Bookstores for a fund-raiser from 9 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14. A purchase at ANY Barnes & Noble Bookstore nationwide on this date referencing Friends of the Rockford Public Library and the bookfair identification number 10009017 will be credited, and a portion of net sales will benefit the Friends of Rockford Public Library.
In addition to getting some holiday shopping done early, customers can enjoy a series of events and activities hosted by the Friends of RPL at the Barnes & Noble store in the District of Cherryvale (CherryVale Mall) Nov. 14. A schedule is detailed below.
Noon-1 p.m.: Treasure Hunt for Kids
1 p.m.: Quilting Demonstration
1:30 p.m.: Playing with Polymer Clay
2 p.m.: Scrapbooking Demonstration
2:30 p.m.: Children’s Storytime
3 p.m.: Collection and Fossils
3:30 p.m.: Introduction to Genealogy
4 p.m.: How to Host a Murder Mystery Play
4:30 p.m.: Author lecture and book signing, Frank Maggio: Notre Dame and the Game That Changed Football
We give Rockford Public Library between $20,000-$50,000 per year to support programs and services,
said Annette Smith, vice president of the Friends of RPL.
We feel libraries are invaluable to our community, and we hope people come out, do some shopping, and help support the library at the same time.
The Friends of Rockford Public Library was formed more than 30 years ago and operates the Friends bookstore within the Main Library and hosts a series of book sales throughout the year. Proceeds support Rockford Public Library grant requests and the Friends of RPL annual scholarship for a student enrolled in a Master of Library Science degree program.
