‘Power Up Live’—a live performance showcase and Web-a-thon

Bar 3 will host
Power Up Live”—a live performance showcase and Web-a-thon to benefit YouthBuild Rockford from 5-11 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, at Bar 3, 326 E. State St., Rockford.

Webcast live to a global audience, it will include performances by many of Rockford’s finest bands, dancers, poets and rappers. The event is hosted by Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey, Paul Logli, Ald. Doug Mark and WXRX’s Jim Stone and Steph.

The greater community has rallied together to support this live performance showcase and Web-a-thon event to raise funds and awareness for YouthBuild Rockford.

YouthBuild Rockford is a program of Comprehensive Community Solutions that enrolls high school dropouts and gives them the opportunity to complete their high school education by building affordable housing for low-income residents.

Bands scheduled include Too Deep, The Sensations, Big Daddy WOO-WOO, No Dice & Dan Voll/Mike Donze. Dancers include Fatally Unique & the Marvin Hawkins Dancers (hip-hop); Midwest Monsters (break dance). Poets include Debra Jo, Daytone, Key Element and Jason Saichek. Rappers include Hollywood, White Boy, and Smitty. Additional performers include Brian Beer and Ryan Swanson.

Donation at the door is $10; 100 percent goes to support YouthBuild Rockford’s programs, and the worldwide Web audience can show their support by contributing online or phoning in pledges. All contributions are tax-deductible. Door prizes will be given throughout the six-hour event as downtown businesses reach out to support this cause.
