City signs agreement regarding nFactor and nCenter Facility management

Mayor Larry Morrissey announced that his office and the Human Services Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gerald Lott of Rockford Youth Initiative regarding the management of nFactor and the nCenter facility. This agreement with the Rockford Youth Initiative will allow for the use of the City’s trademark design. In addition to the agreement, the Human Services Department has awarded a sub-grant in the amount of $15,000 to the program.
The City of Rockford has been in discussion with Lott since June of this year, when The Salvation Army was forced to relinquish its role as managing partner of the nCenter. A verbal agreement has been in place since that time between the Rockford Youth Initiative and the City of Rockford allowing Lott to continue serving the youth of the Rockford community while operating the nCenter.
I commend Mr. Lott for stepping forward and allowing the nCenter to continue. We look forward to a strong partnership with the Rockford Youth Initiative, and our Human Services Department will work closely with both the nCenter and nFactor movement to ensure its continued success,
said Morrissey.
The nCenter started off as a city partnership with The Salvation Army and was an offshoot of the city’s nFactor, a unique youth movement designed to focus on the root causes of many of the negative symptoms we see among the youth.
It has been the Rockford Youth Initiative’s mission to engage the spirit of youth toward positive goals. By taking on the nFactor, I look forward to boosting its membership and working with teens in areas of community service and charitable actions,
said Gerald Lott.
