‘La Posada: A Historical Advent’ Dec. 13 at Memorial Hall

The Hispanic Gallery of the Ethnic Heritage Museum will offer “La Posada: A Historical Advent” from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13, at Veterans Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main St., Rockford.

The event features the seventh annual musical re-enactment of Mary and Joseph in search of an inn. The event will include holiday music performed by local entertainment. Traditional piñatas will be offered.

The “Hymnos de las Posadas” has three components: an on-stage choir sings the portion designated “outside,” the audience sings the portions designated “inside,” and the actors re-enact the story during the singing. For the first time this year, see the Parade of Nativity scenes from different Latin American countries.

Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. Refreshments will include fruits, nuts, cookies and candies. Children will take home bags of holiday treats.
