Deadline is Jan. 19 to request free tutoring under NCLB

Children who attend one of the Rockford Public Schools listed below may qualify for up to 48 hours of free Supplemental Education Services (SES) Tutoring:

Barbour, Beyer, Conklin, Ellis, Hillman, Jackson, Kennedy Middle School, King (formerly Washington), Kishwaukee, Lathrop, Lewis Lemon, Lincoln Middle School, Marsh, McIntosh, Nashold, Nelson, RESA Middle School, Riverdahl, Stiles, Summerdale, Walker, Whitehead, West View.

Free tutoring services are being offered because standardized test scores at these schools failed to meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for Illinois State Standards.

Some qualifications must be met to receive SES services; priority is given to low-income, lowest-achieving students, and they must participate in the free/reduced lunch program.

Interested parents must return the SES (blue) application form (available from the Title I office or online at www.rps205.com) by the deadline of Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.
