Anyone looking for some festive seasonal entertainment need look no further than the Rockford public schools, where there are plenty of yuletide opportunities available before schools dismiss for winter break. You don’t have to be a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle to attend. Events listed here are open to the public, and most are free.

• Eisenhower Middle School’s advanced bands perform at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10. (815-229-2450)

• Music in the Mall—Lathrop Elementary School choir perform holiday favorites such as “Spirit of the Season” and “Stepping out with Santa Claus” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, in front of Barnes and Noble near the Bergner’s mall entrance. (815-966-3285)

• Multicultural Music Programs—Diverse music of Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa share the stage at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Stiles Elementary School, where audience members have the opportunity to join a sing-along. Marsh Elementary School students sing, dance and perform a blend of holiday music and songs from around the world, including “The Singing Bird,” “Si me dan pasteles” and “We Got The Beat” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10. • White Swan Elementary School and Ellis Arts Academy Winter Programs Students from White Swan perform seasonal songs including “Jingle Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “The Night Before Christmas” at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Tebala Shrine Temple, 7910 Newburg Road. • Traditional Winter Programs—Children’s favorites such as “Suzy Snowflake,” “Jingle Bells” and “The Twelve Days of Christmas” are performed by Haskell Year-Round School students at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15. • Winter Sing Alongs—Kindergarten, first- and second-graders sing holiday favorites including “Jingle Bells,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Nia,” “I Saw Three Ships,” and “The Wassailing Song” at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at McIntosh Elementary School (815-966-3275).
