From press release

The League of Illinois Bicyclists (LIB) has posted a notice regarding upcoming seminars on bicycle planning. Ten of these seminars are being held throughout the state. A meeting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Rockford for Jan. 12, 2010, at the RMAP offices, 313 N. Main St., Rockford. An announcement for this seminar has been posted on the RMAP Web site at www.rmapil.org<http://www.rmapil.org.

Planning for bike-friendly communities is becoming more common in major cities, suburbs and small towns across the country. Everyday decisions by planners, engineers, and others affect how safe and convenient it is to bike for recreation or transportation. Attendees will be familiarized with proper car/bike interactions, relevant national standards and best practices, planning tools, related
political

issues and policy techniques, tips on available funding sources, and implementation strategies. Besides planners and engineers, target audiences include other local officials and bicycle advisory commission members.

If you are interested in attending this seminar, must register for the event prior to the meeting date. The direct link to the registration page is http://www.bikelib.org/bike-planning/bike-planning-instruction/continuing-education/. The registration fee of $25 will be waived for LIB members.
