Members of the Auburn High School student body have staged a walk-out in protest of yesterday’s removal of Principal Dr. Richard Jancek.
Rock River Times Staff Writer Joe McGehee and Photographer Daniel Jenkins reported at 11 a.m. seeing about 50 or 75 students exiting the Auburn building, and said there was a larger exodus earlier in the morning. They said students are headed to the District 205 Administration Building at 201 S. Madison St. to protest the removal of Jancek.
Jancek was one of two District 205 principals removed yesterday by Superintendent Dr. LaVonne Sheffield and the Rockford Board of Education. Click here to read that report.
West Middle School principal Thomas Schmitt was also relieved of duties. Both district employees, according to School Board President David Kelley, will likely be re-assigned within the district.
