Mr. McGehee, please interview some teachers who are involved in this Evans-Newton (ENI)program. I think you will find very few who would agree with Dr. Sheffield's view, especially at the lower elementary levels. ENI "training" is taking teachers out of the classroom. ENI requires extra testing and paperwork, none of which is directed toward the standards that teachers are supposed to be teaching. Everything in ENI is based on an assumption that Rockford teachers don't know how to teach - a preposterous assumption. Most have actually dedicated themselves to continuous improvement in their teaching skills, taking advanced college classes and earning masters degrees. Here's a suggestion: if the $5.1 million had been spent on teachers' aides in the classrooms instead of ENI, test scores and other measurable results would be far better! Don't believe me? Ask teachers. Don't believe them? Check with educational scholars.

What are the kickbacks that Sheffield is getting for landing that contract? Personal driver, trips, etc. Sounds similiar to the Dr's/drug companies. Look int it.
