IceHogs’ Jan. 13 game sold out, deals available for Jan. 27 game

“There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” However, there is such a thing as a free professional hockey game. Thanks to WIFR-TV channel 23, thousands of Rockford IceHogs fans will fill the sold-out MetroCentre tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 13) to watch the ’Hogs take on the Houston Aeros absolutely free of charge.
For the second consecutive year, WIFR bought all the seats and gave them away at no cost on their Web site. Fans could print out a voucher good for four tickets. The vouchers then had to be exchanged ahead of time for tickets to the game.
Rockford IceHogs President Mark Bernard said on the team’s Web site that the game was sold out. “We’re thrilled for the second consecutive season to sell out the WIFR Night,” said Bernard. “This is a great opportunity for people in our community to enjoy a game, thanks to WIFR, and witness firsthand what a first-class product that the IceHogs put on every night.
“Unfortunately, our building is only so big, and we have so many fans that want to attend this great event,” Bernard added. “For those that got their vouchers too late and weren’t able to redeem them for Jan. 13, we’ve opened an offer for the Jan. 27 game and we hope that fans can take advantage of this great opportunity.”
To redeem your coupon for $5 off any upper end-zone seat for the Jan. 27 game, go to the MetroCentre Box Office. All kids’ tickets are $5 for that game as well. The $5 off coupon will be available on www.wifr.com until Friday, Jan. 15.
This will be the third straight game the ’Hogs and Aeros face one another. Rockford beat Houston in Texas last Sunday (Jan. , 10) 2-1 on an overtime goal by Mike Brennan. Tonight’s game is the second of the three games and the first of two in Rockford this week. They will conclude the series Friday night (Jan. 15). Game time for tonight and Friday is 7:05 p.m.
