Genevieve Borich, Iowa native and current Rockford resident, is allergic to nuts, which makes the title of her art opening a Brio (515 E. State St.) ironic to say the least. The ::nutRAGEOUS:: exhibit will be open to the public from 6-9 p.m. Jan. 20.

“My show is about people’s buried weaknesses,” Borich said. “Coming to terms with my Achilles’ heel has taught me to respect the strength it has given me.”

The artwork on display will deal with the vulnerability all humans share, and how that vulnerability makes us all a bit more human. But, the works will also highlight the strength we gain after dealing with these weaknesses and how we forge ahead – stronger, better for the experience – after confronting our own personal kryptonite.

“Art is for everyone and I wanted to create a show where people could rediscover a forgotten bit of themselves,” Borich said. “It’s like that sore muscle you remember you have have after working out for the first time in a while.

“My show is about people’s buried weaknesses,” Borich continued. “Coming to terms with my Achilles’ heel has taught me to respect the strength it gives me, and I hope my show will do the same for others.”
