From press release

ST. CHARLES, Ill.—The Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) is hoping to cash in on one of the top five New Year’s Resolutions: losing weight. Food banks across the nation have the opportunity to benefit from their local residents’ quest to drop some pounds. The Pound for Pound Challenge is sponsored by the reality TV show The Biggest Loser, General Mills and many others. This season, community members have the opportunity to pledge their targeted weight loss goal. For each pound they pledge, General Mills will donate 14 cents to Feeding America, the nation’s network of food banks. Much of that donation will go straight to the local food bank, in this case NIFB.
We are incredibly excited to have this opportunity to raise not only awareness and funds, but also to encourage people to make healthy eating choices,

said NIFB President and CEO H. Dennis Smith.
Providing nutritious food to those in need is the core part of our mission, and this program exemplifies the healthy lifestyles that we promote each day for all people right here in northern Illinois,

Smith added.

Those interested in participating can sign up as individuals or in terms by going to www.pfpchallenge.com. Registration is very easy and takes less than five minutes. To pledge, participants will be asked their name, age, zip code, weight loss goal, and a few questions about their lifestyle and goals for taking part in the program. There are no weigh-ins and no follow-up to monitor progress. Healthy eating and fitness tips are also offered.
