The false activation of a fire alarm occurred this afternoon at Kennedy Middle School. Some students are acting out in response to enforcement of the dress code, including the ID badge requirment. Students who cannot control their behavior are being sent home and cannot return until a parent conference occurs. Classes are continuing for the remainder of the day.
According to District 205 Chief Communications Officer Mark Bonne, Kennedy Middle School was not placed on lockdown as a result of the fire alarm pulls.
“After the fire alarms were pulled, regular lunches were served in the classrooms instead of sending all the students to the cafeteria,” Bonne said. “After lunches were served, classes resumed as normal.”
