Police stop 29 vehicles in speed, seat belt enforcement details

During the week of Feb. 1-5, members of the Rockford Police Department participated in both speed and seat belt enforcement details. The purpose of the enforcement actions is to address crash rates and severity of injuries as it relates to excessive speed and occupant protection.
Target locations were the 1900 block of North Perryville Road and the intersection of Auburn and Central Avenue. Twenty-nine vehicles were stopped for violations.
The majority of the citations were issued for speeding, failure to wear seatbelts, no insurance, and driver’s license violations. One subject was lodged in jail and one vehicle was impounded.
Citations/arrests issued included the following: 13 speeding violations; nine seat belt violations; three insurance violations; and one driver’s license violation. There were a total of 26 citations or arrests.
These locations will be emphasized for future enforcement details.
