MINNEAPOLIS—Rasmussen College campuses nationwide—including the Rockford campus—have joined forces to collect donations for Haiti relief. Together, with additional donations from board members, they donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross and Partners in Health.

The donations came from 17 campuses to aid relief efforts in Haiti. Following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated Haiti Jan. 12, company leaders declared an “Employee Jeans Day” for those who chose to make donations toward recovery efforts. Rasmussen, Inc., matched all donations generated from employees and added personal contributions from several board members. The generous donation will benefit Haiti relief efforts by the American Red Cross and Partners in Health.

Founded in 1881, the American Red Cross is our nation’s premier emergency response organization, offering neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war and devastating natural disasters. Partners in Health has been working on the ground in Haiti for more than 20 years. The organization works to provide aid for patients, alleviate the root causes of disease in their communities, and share lessons learned around the world.

“The Rasmussen College donation to Haiti relief is part of a company-wide commitment to volunteerism,” President of Rasmussen College Kristi Waite said. “We are grateful for our ability to continue to aid community, national and global organizations in their continuous work toward charitable causes.”

Rasmussen is committed to investing in the whole of its employees through a variety of mediums, including community involvement, philanthropy and volunteerism. Its $50,000 donation to Haiti relief is part of an ongoing dedication to aiding charitable organizations. In 2009, Rasmussen hosted or participated in more than 50 local community service projects, in addition to a company-wide community day for which Rasmussen employees participated in 3,600 cumulative hours of community service across five states.
