Second Annual Fur-Ball fund-raiser to benefit PAWS Humane Society set for Feb. 13 at Giovanni’s
From press release
Get ready to support the cause for PAWS with the Second Annual Fur Ball Dinner Dance Fund-raiser to be held Saturday, Feb. 13, to benefit the local animal organization PAWS Humane Society. The event is sponsored by Dr. Michael DeGould. Luan Dean, chairperson for the ball, said, “We wanted to hold the event on or close to Valentine’s Day, so that if people were going to go out anyway for Valentineís Day… hopefully, they will come to this event and support a great cause.” 2009 Fur-Ball was a sold-out event with 350 animal lovers in attendance.
The Fur-Ball will be held at Giovanniís, starting at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. (Selections include Filet of Sirloin, Stuffed Chicken Breast and Eggplant Parmesan.) Music and dancing starts at 9 p.m. with the band, The Missing Links. A silent auction, live auctions and raffles will ensue throughout the evening as the group hopes to raise $20,000-$30,000 for this annual event.
Tickets are $65 per person and $130 per couple. Tables of 10 can be purchased for $650. For tickets, please call (815) 299-PAWS (7297) or (815) 289-0345, visit the Web site at www.FURBALLROCKFORD.com or www.PAWSHS.org. Checks payable to: PAWS Humane Society, P.O. Box 7722, Rockford, IL 61126. Checks and VISA/MC are accepted. For more information, contact Luan Dean at (815) 289-0345.
The PAWS Humane Society is a local nonprofit animal group that DOES NOT HAVE A SHELTER and is oftentimes confused with Winnebago County Animal Services on North Main. The main focus of the group is spay/neuter assistance, humane education to the public and schools, and also emergency animal welfare relief. The group receives no government or local county funding but works merely on donations and the efforts of their own fund-raising.
