From press release
In celebration of Black History Month, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is sponsoring “Aspire: A Black Talent Exhibit” from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11-12, at the Rockford Auburn High School Theater.
The event, organized by Auburn High School students, will showcase local high school talent in the areas of song, dance, spoken word and instrumentals.
Zandie Shields, a MYAC member, said: “The purpose of this production is to target youth to aspire to strive for what positive young adults are presently achieving.”
Historical African-American facts will be offered throughout the transitions of the show and will be one of the main focal points of the content in each performance.
This is a free event, but canned food items and/or monetary donations will be accepted.
