Discovery Center showcases local engineering feats Feb. 13

Local engineering feats will be showcased at Discovery Center Museum from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, to celebrate National Engineers’ Week, which runs Feb. 14 -20.

Children can ride a forklift, design a bridge, launch catapults, catch a live physics demonstration, interact with robots and much more!

Organizations registered include Hamilton Sundstrand/UTC, Haldex Hydraulics, Underwriters Laboratory, Southern Imperial, Anderson Packaging, Aqua-Aerobics Systems, Inc., Tech Works, Nuts Bolts and Thingamajigs, the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, several high school robotics teams from the region and the Rockford LEGO League.

Discovery Center Museum, the nation’s No. 4 Children’s Museum as cited by Child magazine, is inside Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. General admission to the museum is: $6 adults, $5 children (ages 2 to 17) and free to children younger than 2 and museum members. Hours open are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday; noon-5 p.m., Sunday.
