The Rockford Park District is giving area youth the opportunity to participate in their “Passport to Fun” event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20. The Youth Sports Expo will be inside the Webbs Norman Center Lobby, 401 S. Main St., in Rockford.
The expo will highlight 12 different Park District youth sports programs. The concentration will be on spring registration for those sports, lessons, mini-camps, clinics, and leagues.
Marketing and Communications Manager Denise Delanty said: “The goal of our expo is to showcase the many youth sport opportunities that are available through the Rockford Park District. Registration is now under way for lessons, leagues and clinics, and Park District representatives from each of our sport programs will be on hand to answer questions about these programs. Our priority is to provide a leadership role in leisure skill development, which includes building healthy families and a healthy community through recreational sport opportunities for kids.”
The youth sports represented at the expo include: golf, swimming, volleyball, tennis, horseback riding, indoor soccer, basketball, NFL flag football, track, figure skating, hockey and adapted sports.
Everyone who attends the Expo will receive a “sports passport: and the opportunity to win a Rockford Park District sampler package of passes for various facilities and activities by collecting a stamp from each of the 12 youth sports booths represented at the Expo. Other free pass giveaways and drawings will be held.
