Students debate race, politics in third annual Truth Talk event Feb. 27

Teams from Rockford’s public high schools will participate in the third annual Truth Talk Debates, sponsored by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Heartland Community Church.

Phi Beta Sigma started the Truth Talk event as a way to observe Black History Month and stimulate community dialogue on race and politics.

Last year’s debate questions included: “Does the election of the first African-American president mean that race relations have improved in our nation?”
