Community Gardens: Building communities through gardening

  University of Illinois Extension-Winnebago County will host Mike Maddox, director of Education Rotary Gardens/UW Extension Horticulture Educator, and representatives of the Rock Prairie Master Gardeners for an in-depth look at how community gardens create positive change in neighborhoods, schools, the local jail and shelters. The presentation will also cover how they created WIC-eligible farmers’ markets in Rock County and understanding food nutrition through micro and macro nutrients, from 5 to 8 p.m., Feb. 24, at the East Branch of the Rockford Public Library, 6685 E.
