To the Editor: Thanks for Tea Party notice
I thank The Rock River Times for publishing notice of the Tea Party Town Hall event held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Stockholm Inn. Americans are beginning to realize the deep trouble we are in. All this talk on financial networks about “green shoots” rising (economic growth) is so much nonsense. The national debt at Obama’s inauguration was $10.6 trillion. On Feb. 10 of 2010, it is $12.4 trillion (www.theobamadebt.com). It is expected to double by 2012 and TRIPLE by 2019. I suggest you Google “when debt exceeds GDP” (Gross Domestic Product) to see what fun awaits us. The debt is projected to do so in 2011 by Treasury Secretary Geithner.
Burying your head in the sand (the tactic of ostriches, faced with predators) may provide a little cover, but it won’t protect you from the coming storm. If you’d like to learn more about what we can do, come to a Thursday, Feb. 25 meeting of the Northern Illinois Tea Party, Roscoe, at Sophia’s Restaurant on Bridge Street at 6:30 p.m. Or e-mail me for information about upcoming Rockford and Lena, Ill. meetings (N.IL.TeaParty@gmail.com). Tea Party is not about disgruntled racists lashing out for their problems. It’s about our children’s futures.

Warning! Republicans in Winnabago county are making decisions that effect your family. As we speak they are writing up plans that may eliminate stop signs all together in the city of Rockford. This will have devastating effects on safety on our city streets. I’m lying. But I had you going, maybe. I read “Come to Rockton Tea Party March 18th” and was skeptical of the claims made by the author of that article. I usually use Factcheck.org to check things that either sound too good or too stupid to be true. I’m usually right or in this case left.
I’m having a problem with what’s going on in this country. While grass roots groups getting involved in politics is great to see. Our country’s very foundation is based on a active voting and well informed public after all. We are being completely saturated with lies and exaggerations that obscure the truth making it impossible to make any kind of informed decision. When people went to the town hall meetings to find out about health care and other programs that President Obama was proposing, they were inundated with people there only to disrupt. The information needed to make an informed decision was being obscured by shouting and commotion. Today we have Sara Palin suggesting we not run but reload. Is this a hint of what’s to come? Democrats have been spit on and called names while there offices are being vandalized, bricks being thrown through windows. What’s going on? I mean step back for a moment. I except you might not agree with the president. But why not debate the facts? Everything has become so cloudy we don’t even know why were mad anymore. Our President, the man we chose to lead us has been attacked for being everything bad you can imagine. He’s a communist, a socialist, He’s a muslim, he’s not an American at all. He doesn’t believe in God he believes in gun control. He wants to release terrorists from prison. He’s working with Iran to help terrorists attack the U.S. I mean come on people- really?
Our country has a serious national debt problem and yes I’m concerned about the amounts being spent right now. But don’t blame the guy making breakfast for your hangover. When Reagan took over in 1980 the debt was only half a trillion dollars. In Clinton’s last year as President he balanced the budget. He had a program in place, had it continued was projected to pay off our national debt by this year. Instead George Bush junior became President and killed that program and cut taxes and even gave us all tax breaks saying it’s our money. Someone should have reminded him the money he was giving us was really China’s money. It was borrowed money not a surplus the Federal government had laying around. Nobody screamed anything during Bush’s administration. Debt soared and nobody seemed concerned at all. You hardly heard a word about how we financed the Prescription drug bill because we didn’t. It was all deficit spending. That costs our government millions and millions of dollars. Nothing socialist about that apparently. But a Democrat try to pass a law with a mandate that an insurance company can’t drop you for getting sick and they’re a communist.
Like I said we should encourage grass roots organizations and while the tea party in Rockton is over I’d encourage anyone to go to these things when you can. But go even if you don’t agree with them because that’s a good place to ask questions and find out what there really saying. Put them on the hot seat and really look into the things being said. I’m scared for the Republican party. They’ve been invaded by radicals. I hope they can survive because in the past they have been a great contribution to our government. It’s not the case right now and it’s sad to see.
