Following is a list of Rockford Art Museum’s (RAM) 69th Young Artist Show: High School Division award winners, announced Sunday, March 7, at the exhibit’s opening:
Portfolio Scholarship Award—Evan Jarzynski, Portfolio, Jefferson High School—five pieces in portfolio: Wrapped, Isolation, Ambitious Perception, Hide and Peek, Empowered by Choice
Myrtle M. Irons Scholarship Award—Alexandra Borowski, Beautiful Suffering, Jefferson High School

Best 2D—Kemdi Egekeze, Self-Portrait, Huntley High School

Jurors’ Choice—Threassance Imudia, Art & Technology #2, Jefferson High School;Maddie Witt, Dandelions, Auburn High School

The 69th Young Artist Show: High School Division, an annual juried competition, features exceptional artwork by students from schools within 50 miles of RAM. The exhibition remains on display in the RAM Anderson Gallery through April 3.
Twenty-one schools submitted 850 pieces of artwork for consideration by this year’s jurors, who chose 137 pieces, representing 108 students from 16 high schools, for inclusion and awards in the 2010 exhibition. Jurors do not know the artist’s name, grade level, or school affiliation when they make their selections.
Jurors were Drea Howenstein, associate professor and chairman of Art Education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Andrew Liccardo, assistant professor, School of Art, Northern Illinois University.
