Rockford Park District joins Alignment Rockford movement
From press release
Tuesday, March 9, the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners approved the Memorandum of Understanding with Alignment Rockford to demonstrate the district’s commitment to the children of the Rockford community by supporting collaborative partnerships with other organizations to assist Rockford Public School District 205 to achieve greater success.
“With this action, the Board of Commissioners affirms Alignment Rockford’s collaborative role, and the Park District’s commitment to helping students succeed by aligning many of our current programs and initiatives through a coordinated effort that will deliver programs more efficiently and effectively,” said Rockford Park District Executive Director Tim Dimke.
A key statement in the Memorandum of Understanding by the Park District says, “We believe this concerted effort will have a positive impact on public school achievement, the well-being of our children, and the economic and social advancement of our community.”
Alignment Rockford is a new framework for community organizations to coordinate their efforts in support of Rockford School District 205. This potential organization is in the beginning stages of development to create a system similar to one that is currently successful in Tennessee. The goal of Alignment Rockford is to be a collaborative community-wide system focused on strategic school support and aligning resources in support of Rockford schools.
Park District Board Commissioner and retired administrator from the Rockford School District Nate Martin said: “This will expand our long held partnership with the school district and is a win-win opportunity for the students we all serve. It is also a great way for these government bodies to leverage tax dollars for the citizens in our community.”
The mission of the Rockford Park District is to help people enjoy life by providing a quality parks and recreation system.
