From press release

Vegetable growers in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin are invited to participate in the Northern Illinois Vegetable Growers School Thursday, March 18, and Friday, March 19, at the University of Illinois Extension-Winnebago County, 1925 S. Meridian Road, Rockford. This two-day intensive workshop will provide new and experienced growers with up-to-date information that they will immediately be able to use to make their operation more profitable and their production more successful. Extension Educators and Specialists will provide research-based, non-biased information tooled specifically for small to mid-sized vegetable producers.

Bill Shoemaker is an Extension Specialist for Vegetable Crops and runs the St. Charles Vegetable Research Center for the university. He will present “Leveraging Your Vegetable Crop Management” and “Seasons Extension Using High Tunnels and Hoop Houses.” Shoemaker regularly presents at statewide conferences and is pleased to be coming to Rockford for this program. “Running a research center, I have a great deal of hands-on experiences to couple with the research on the topics I present. My programs allow the participant to apply their knowledge immediately,” says Shoemaker. He joins other Extension educators John Pike, an agritourism specialist; Greg Clark, who will be presenting Benefits of Proactive GAPs; and Deborah Cavanaugh-Grant, Small Farms Specialist for the university.

The cost of the school is $100, and two members from the same farm may split the registration and attend on alternate days.
