March 29 production of Avenue Q teams up with Rock River Valley Pantry

The smash-hit Broadway musical Avenue Q is teaming up with the Rock River Valley Pantry for a food drive. Canned food drop-off containers will be located at The Coronado Performing Arts Center Box Office. A $5 discount for the March 29 performance will be extended to each person who provides a canned food donation at the time of their ticket purchase.
Avenue Q is no stranger to giving to charity. The show has also raised money for the BBC Children in Need charity and looks forward to helping Rockford’s local food pantry.
The Rock River Valley Pantry is the largest not-for-profit food pantry in northern Illinois. It provides nearly 375,000 balanced meals a year to needy families living in the Rockford community and serves more than 70,000 people annually from its three pantry locations.
Jesse Hintz of Jam Theatricals, promoter of Avenue Q at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, said: “Avenue Q is all about struggling to make ends meet in the grown-up world. Now, more than ever, this story resonates with households across the country. By partnering with the Rock Valley Pantry, we are able to both help the Rockford community and make this evening of entertainment more affordable.”
Avenue Q is the three-time Tony Award-winning musical about real life in New York City, as told by a cast of people and puppets through a hilariously irreverent, Tony Award-winning book and score. The musical will make its Rockford debut at the Coronado Performing Arts Center Monday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, starting at $31.50, can be purchased at the Coronado box office, online at www.coronadopac.org [1] or charge by phone at (815) 968-0595. Discounts are available for subscribers and groups of 20 or more.
