From press release

Charlotte’s Web for the Performing Arts presents the Sharpe World Music Ensemble with Tom Sharpe, playing “World Music with Orchestral Background” at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 10, at Spring Creek United Church of Christ, 4500 Spring Creek Road, Rockford.

Tom Sharpe is an internationally-recognized, award-winning composer, performer and recording artist; a sought-out clinician and performer of his own works, and the artistic director and principal performer of the SharpeWorld Music Ensemble. An alumnus of the Interlochen Arts Academy with a bachelor’s and master’s of music from DePaul University in Chicago, he has spent years developing his unique style of visually-stimulating performance and lyrical composition. Blending his orchestral background with world music instrumentation and cinematic imagery, Sharpe creates an experience that invites the listener into the heart of the musical moment—wildly emotional and technically precise, with a gutsy edge of percussive frenzy and tribal ritual.

Sharpe’s music is a percussive symphony—a sonic and visual feast for the senses. A classically-trained musician, Tom has dramatically blended his orchestral background with world music instrumentation and cinematic imagery to create an experience that is wildly emotional and technically precise, totally involving the listener.

Drummer for the popular artists Mannheim Steamroller and Dennis DeYoung, Sharpe has written compositions that have won many awards, including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Broadjam World Music Contest. His high energy, passion and emotion, combined with superb musicality, leave audiences amazed and inspired.
