Life Center receives financial support from Community Foundation of Northern Illinois

Life Center was awarded a grant of $2,000 by the Margaret K. Aldeen Christian Ministry Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (CFNIL).
According to Life Center’s Angela Harris, the grant will be used for Life Center’s Homeless Prevention Services Program, which consists of providing food, clothing, furniture, hygiene products, and over-the-counter medical items at no charge to approximately 300 families weekly.
“Our agency has provided assistance to tens of thousands of less-fortunate families throughout the last seven years,” Harris said. “The grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois will give us additional resources to enable Life Center to accommodate the increased number of families seeking services for approximately three months.”
Life Center was founded in 2002, as an outreach ministry of Faith Center Church. Life Center has provided services to more than 30,000 less-fortunate and poverty stricken families in Winnebago County throughout the past year. Hundreds of clients flood the doors of Life Center during Saturday pantry operational hours.
Clients are encouraged to utilize all of Life Center’s programs, which also include computer access for job searches and résumé building, a tutoring club, a Tools for School program, and mentoring classes designed for ex-offenders and addicts.
CFNIL is the area’s largest provider of grants and services. Stewarding almost $50 million in assets and more than 400 funds, the foundation awards more than $3 million each year on behalf of caring donors who want to give something back to their community.
