Every spring, Womanspace hosts our annual Spring Luncheon at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club. This year, “A Garden Party” is April 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Celebrate “35 Years of Transformation” with a table of family and friends. Party starts with an expansive silent auction followed by delicious luncheon, entertainment by Womansong, and the 14th Annual Womanspirit Award. There’s also fun mystery gifts for $5 and $10, and select your entrée at www.womanspace-rockford.org by April 19. Tickets to this fund-raiser are $40 and include The Law Office of Jim Black & Associates, Leadership Communication, Inc., State Farm Agent Lisa Mawyer, Sandra J. Slaga, Attorney-at-Law, Stanley Steemer, Greg Tuite & Associates, Rockford Chamber of Commerce and Rockford Woman.
Our other annual spring event is a weekend retreat with Francis Rothluebber. Harness the Energies is April 30-May 2, and includes two meals in the $125 fee. Francis, an international leader in the spirituality movement, will lead us on a journey exploring how we were born to be creative. She’ll also share City of the Dawn, the film she has been instrumental in making about Auroville, a universal city in India.
Spring tends to put a smile on your face. So do Honeybees, unless you suffer from apiphobia! Come to EarthMatters at noon today, April 14, for a special presentation about our fuzzy friends, and then come back May 12 for everything you need to know about Rain Gardens. April 17, legacy biographer Edna Groves presents I Dwell in Possibility. This workshop will help you leave a written legacy for your descendants. Then, figure out how to protect your descendants at Disaster Planning—Simple Ways to Prepare and Protect You and Your Family with Julie Wilcox April 21. You’ll get information to plan for emergencies ranging from a winter storm, to just a really bad day!
Our Junior Members (girls 9-13) and their friends can create their written and artistic Dream Space with Barb Santucci April 20 and 27. Collage for Fun is an afternoon artshop with Barb, also starting April 20. Life Drawing, Sculpture, Watercolor, Handbuilt Pottery and Beginning Wheel Thrown Pottery classes start in May, and Yoga and Daf Drum lessons continue to meet every week.
WomanSpeak is on view in Gallery 1 through May 8. This exhibit is inspired by the words of strong females with work available for purchase in a variety of media by our members and art instructors. May 8, bring your family and friends to our next Holistic Health Fair and Open House. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can stroll our beautiful campus, plus enjoy pampering by reflexologists, massage therapists and more. Our members will have displays and you can learn more about upcoming programs. It’s a perfect outing to share with your mom for Mother’s Day (May 9)!
