Seventh Annual JuBell-ee Handbell Festival April 17
From press release
Rockford Christian High School invites you to the Seventh Annual JuBell-ee Handbell Festival at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 17, in the school gymnasium, 1401 N. Bell School Road. Cost is $5 in advance or at the door (call 815-637-6963). Children younger than 10 get in free.
This handbell festival brings more than a dozen regional handbell choirs and 150 ringers together for a day-long workshop, culminating in a concert for the public at the end of their day.
Imagine the scene—scores of handbell ringers, their shining bells glinting under the lights, all playing innovative music in synchronized motion. People who have witnessed such a scene look forward to seeing and hearing it again. People who have had the privilege of participating in a bell festival look forward to their next chance to play in that setting and re-establish the bonds they’ve formed with other ringers. April 17, players and listeners both will have a chance to experience the glory of a bell festival at JuBell-ee Festival 2010.
Sponsored in part by Court Street United Methodist Church in downtown Rockford, this gathering and concert will be presented as a fund-raiser for the benefit of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB). KNIB concentrates on improving our environment through education, public awareness, recycling and community involvement.
This year’s guest clinician will be Anna Laura Page, who is a composer, arranger and publisher of handbell, organ and piano music, and is handbell music editor at Alfred Publishing Co. She works with children, youth and adults and resides in Sherman, Texas. She is married to Dr. Oscar C. Page, president of Austin College.
