Kiwanis Club to hand out $14,500 in service awards to area high school seniors

Tuesday, May 4, the Kiwanis Club of Rockford will conduct its annual award luncheon honoring outstanding area high school seniors.
Youth Education Service Awards and College Grant Awards totaling $14,500 will be presented to 11 graduating seniors who have displayed outstanding service to school and community, academic achievement and financial need. These monetary awards are designed to help defray expenses (books, lab fees and other expenses) during the beginning of their college experiences.
The luncheon begins at 12:10 p.m. at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford Plaza, corner of Charles and 20th streets. The keynote speaker will be Jack Becherer, president of Rock Valley College.
This year’s winners represent the following high schools: Boylan, Harlem, Hononegah, Jefferson, Keith Country Day and Lutheran.
