Tinker hosts Third Annual New Glarus Festival May 8

Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens will host the Third Annual New Glarus Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 8. Musicians including the Maennechor and Alphorn players will perform throughout the day, with yodeling part of the show. Vendors will be in the Tinker Visitor Center showcasing their Swiss products, including cheese, chocolate, cookbooks and more.

Robert Hall Tinker built his cottage in 1865 using the drawings of Swiss chalets he created while touring Switzerland in 1862. To celebrate the Swiss style architecture, Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens partners with New Glarus, Wis., to sponsor this event.
America’s “Little Switzerland,” New Glarus, Wis., is in the heart of Green County in southern Wisconsin. Its rolling hills dotted with small towns, farms and woodland pastures are much like the alpine farmlands of Glarus, Switzerland.
The New Glarus Festival entertainment is free with a separate price for the Brat Lunch and items sold by the vendors. Tours of Tinker’s Cottage will be available at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Admission to the Cottage is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students and free for children 4 and younger and for Tinker members.
Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens, an affiliate of the Rockford Park District, is an educational, not-for-profit institution, dedicated to the preservation of and access to historic Tinker Swiss Cottage, its collections and the legacy of the Robert Hall Tinker family for the community-at-large. The Museum is at 411 Kent St. in Rockford.
