Rock Valley Children’s Choirs’ I Hear America Singing Concert—‘It’s Classic!’

The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is pleased to host the Rock Valley Children’s Choirs’ 8th Annual I Hear America Singing performance, “It’s Classic!” The program will be presented at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 415 N. Church St., Rockford. Admission is $8 for adults; children 12 and younger get in free.
The concert will showcase all four children’s choirs within the organization as they present “classic music by classic composers.” The performance will include selections of secular, sacred, classical, folk, world, American and children’s music.
The Rock Valley Children’s Choir was established in 2002 by Leah Baskin and Dean Durst. Beginning as one small choir, the program has grown to four separate choruses which encompass grades one through 12. The Rock Valley Children’s Choirs formed a partnership with the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center in 2006. The choirs are part of the Community Education Division of Rock Valley College.
