Find Your Space: Glitzy Garage Sale set for June 4-6

By Gale Ketteler
Womanspace Program Coordinator & Marketing Specialist

The Womanspace campus will be filled with tents, taking on the appearance of a circus for Glitzy Garage Sale. Bring your family and friends for great shopping beginning at 8 a.m., Friday, June 4, through Sunday, June 6, at 1 p.m. Clean and declutter your home now, and bring in the stuff you no longer want or need. Visit to learn when we’re open, what we will accept for donations, plus how you can volunteer to help sort and price donated items for the sale in the next couple weeks. This is a huge fund-raiser for Womanspace, and many hands make light work.

Our EarthMatters group welcomes a special guest presenter May 12 to teach us about Rain Gardens. Then, May 18 and 25, Marcia Phillips offers training to help you deal more productively with difficult situations and challenging people in Beyond the Drama: Taking a Higher Perspective. This class is open to all, and especially beneficial for health care practitioners and those seeking NCBTMB hours.

The Queen of Heaven group meets May 23 to watch filmmaker Donna Read and Starhawk’s film Signs Out of Time, a documentary narrated by Olympia Dukakis about archeologist and feminist Marija Gimbutas. This group welcomes all women seeking to learn more about the divine feminine. The next night, men and women alike are invited to enjoy dinner and see A Mighty Heart, the story of journalist Daniel Pearl and his tragic death at the hands of terrorists in 2002, at our Supper and Film program. Then, June 7, Susan Lee will regale us with tales, photos and true stories of her recent adventure in Central America at My Search for the Maya: Cruisin’ the Yucatan.

Lunch and Learns are a great way to discover information and resources about a variety of topics. May 19, we host a Remedies Renewing Lives (formerly PHASE/WAVE) program about Teen Dating Violence, an important subject we all need to learn more about. Dr. Philip Schalow shares his expertise with Alexander Technique June 2. You’ll be fascinated by this simple and practical method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination.

Mandalas is a new art exhibit Womanspace will host in both art galleries near the end of this month. It will feature professional artists in Gallery 1, plus our Junior Members’ and other students’ mandalas in Gallery 3. Junior Members (girls 9-13) and their friends can discover a delightful tradition and excellent manners at our GnC (Grace and Courtesy) Tea May 22, hosted by Phyllis Peterson. If there’s room, we’ll even have a chair for Mom! Don’t miss Dorothy Bock’s Art Lecture about Marc Chagall May 20, and make sure you find at least one fun art class or artshop to register for sometime this summer. You deserve it!

Now, go clean out your closets, attic, basement and garage and bring your stuff to Womanspace by May 31 so we can sell it at Glitzy Garage Sale.
