Law enforcement officers observe National Police Week

Law enforcement officers from northern Illinois invite the community to attend and support the 30th anniversary of National Police Week. A special memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 13, at the Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St., Roscoe. This event is sponsored by the Roscoe Police Department Chaplain Division. The public is invited to attend and remember those officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.
A display of police agencies’ vehicles, motorcycles, antique squads and demonstrations will be held at the CherryVale Mall during mall hours on May 14, 15 and 16.
Special demonstrations by the K-9 patrols will be held from 5:30-8 p.m., Friday, May 14; 11 a.m.,5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, May 15; and 1-4 p.m., Sunday, May 16.
The Northwest Winnebago Safe Kids Coalition will conduct Safety Seats Checks from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, May 15, outside the mall by Alpine Bank.
Children’s fingerprinting will be completed by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s and Corrections departments from 10 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15 and all day Sunday, May 16.
Law enforcement officers, with the assistance of GQ Sports, are one of the largest benefactors for the Special Olympics. A silent auction will be held at GQ Sports with autographed items from your favorite teams.
