May 24 deadline for Freedom Field logo competition
From press release
Winnebago County Board Chairman Scott Christiansen (R) has announced a competition open to all graphic artists in Winnebago County for the design of a logo to be used to promote the Freedom Field Renewable Energy Program. The competition is being held with the assistance of the Rockford Area Arts Council, and the deadline is May 24.
Freedom Field is a not-for-profit organization formed by local government and business officials to facilitate the development and operation of a renewable energy solutions center. The center, which is located in the Rock River Water Reclamation District’s complex, will increase regional awareness of renewable energy opportunities and strive to facilitate local development and commercialization of renewable energy solutions.
Christiansen said: “It is my great hope that our graphic artists will conceptualize a logo that clearly reflects the purpose of the organization. As the Freedom Field program continues to explore ways to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels, we learn more about what is truly possible when it comes to alternative energies. We are looking forward to seeing some exciting work from the outstanding graphic artists we have in this county.”
An artistic competition will also be held for students in grades 7-12 who attend Winnebago County schools. The winning student will receive an honorarium and the art will be displayed at Freedom Field. The student logo will not be used in any other capacity.
Guidelines for entering the competition can be found on the Freedom Field Web site, www.freedomfieldenergy.com, and the Winnebago County Web site, www.co.winnebago.il.us.
