Motorcycle racing May 22-23 at Blackhawk Farms

It’s not every day that local race fans get the opportunity to watch motorcycle racing up close and personal. That opportunity comes to the stateline area this weekend. The Mid-West Championship Series featuring the Michelin Pro Series Team Challenge will race Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23, at the Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit.

Saturday, practice begins at 8 a.m. The first race is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Sunday, practice starts at 8 a.m. and racing begins at 10 a.m.

Saturday’s divisions include the following:

Group 1: Amateur 250 GP Bikes and MW classes

Group 2: Amateur, HW and UNL classes, and SuperTwins

Group 3: All 125 GP, Lightweights, ThunderBikes and TC GTL

Group 4: Expert 250 GP, MW and TC GTU

Group 5: Expert HW, UNL classes, SuperTwins and TC GTO.

Sunday’s divisions include the following:

Group 1: Amateur 250 GP Bikes, and MW classes

Group 2: Amateur, HW and UNL classes, and SuperTwins

Group 3: All 125 GP, Lightweights, ThunderBikes and TC GTL

Group 4: Expert 250 GP, MW and TC GTU

Group 5: Expert HW, UNL Classes, SuperTwins and TC GTO.

The action begins as early as tomorrow (Thursday, May 20). Gates will open Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The gate fee is $35 for adults and is valid through Sunday. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. One-day passes are also available at a reduced fee.
