Massbach Ridge Winery hosts Wine in Bloom Open House

MASSBACH, Ill.—Massbach Ridge Winery invites visitors to share in the celebration of spring during their Wine in Bloom Open House. At the same time, taste the most recent best-seller, Daffodil White.
The new sweet white wine will be just one of the Massbach wines available during the Seventh Annual Wine in Bloom Open House from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 29, at 8837 S. Massbach Road, Elizabeth, Ill. Visitors may also enjoy vineyard tours to learn more about the grapes as well as a winery tour by winemaker Peggy Harmston. The tour will reveal the equipment used for Massbach’s wine production and explain the fermentation and bottling processes.
Tasting stations will be set up along the wine patio and vineyard, and there will be samples of locally-produced cheese to complement the wines. The tasting fee for the day is only $5. Visitors are encouraged to purchase a glass of their favorite variety and enjoy the scenic atmosphere and outdoor entertainment.
“After such a long winter, the vines are beginning to grow 2010’s vintage with enthusiasm,” said winemaker Harmston. “Wine in Bloom is a fantastic event for all ages to come outside and enjoy a relaxing day in our beautiful hills.”
Galena Beef will also be providing locally-grown Beef Kabobs to further satisfy your taste buds.
The tasting room and winery is situated on 18 acres of vineyard on South Massbach Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The family-owned and operated business takes pride in producing its own quality wines from grapes grown in their own vineyard.
